The Lord’s Work – Part 20

“Good things” appears in the Bible 19 times.

1st instance:

Genesis 45:23  And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.

2nd instance:

Deuteronomy 6:10-11  And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,  11  And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

Psalms 103:5  Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Good things are the FRUITS of the earth.

Luke 1:53  He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

Good things are the best things that the earth brings forth. The things that men need and desire. Food, clothing, money. Good things are the things that feed a man, clothe a man, heal a man, enrich a man.

“Good things” is not always used spiritually. But there is a division between the good things of the earth, and the true “good things” in heaven.

Remember, man’s things are patterns, figures, and shadows of the true. The good things on the earth are patterned after the true good things in heaven.

True “Good Things” are not the things that carnal men can DO.

True “Good Things” are the things that only a good man (a saved man) can SPEAK.

Matthew 12:34  … how can ye, being evil, speak good things?

The true good things are the things that a Christian speaks, when he speaks the gospel.

Romans 10:15  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

When you preach the gospel: you love your neighbor, you feed the hungry, clothe the naked, distribute to the poor, heal the sick, visit the prisoners. Those are the true good things.

Matthew 25:41-44  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:  42  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:  43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.  44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

An unsaved man can go all these things after the flesh. The most evil man on the earth has done these things before. Every man alive has a case to be made for his own eternal life based on his works. If this is how God is going to judge man, He is an unrighteous judge.

Divide the true from the figure of the true. Its not about carnal works, which are the figures of the true. Its about the true: did a man give the true good things.

An unsaved man can do every work that I can do. He is no better, and no worse, than me.

What is the difference then? There has to be a difference, right? And it has to be fair, and clear, and consistent, or God is an unrighteous Judge.

An unsaved man cannot bring forth true “good things”, because he cannot SPEAK the gospel.

What are the TRUE good things?

Matthew 7:11  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

“Being evil” – the problem is not what they do, it is what they ARE.

“Being evil” – the problem is not what they do, it is what they bring forth – death and not life.

An evil man cannot give good things. He cannot speak eternal life.

The ONLY other time that Jesus says this is in Luke 11:13.

Luke 11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Its nearly the exact same wording.

The phrases “know how to give”, “good gifts”, “unto your children”, “to them that ask him” are exact matches and Matt 7:11 and Luke 11:13 are the only two times these phrases appear in the Bible. Its like a fingerprint. Its like DNA. Its an exact match. There is not the like verse. Not in Mark or in John, not in any other book of the Bible. In these two verses, Jesus is saying the same exact thing. Therefore, the phrases “good things” and “the Holy Spirit” must be equivalent.

The Holy Spirit is the TRUE good things. True good things proceed from the Holy Spirit.

What are the true good things? The word of God, the blood of Christ, the living water, the bread of life, the milk, the butter, the honey, the wine, the oil. The good things that come forth from the true promised land, in heavenly places. Spiritual fruits, spiritual good things. Eternal life. The things which give eternal life are the good things. True good things are the Holy Spirit, and what things proceed from the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:33-35  Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.  34  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things [the Holy Spirit]? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.  35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things [the Holy Spirit]: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

From a good man, a good tree, proceeds the Holy Spirit, the WORDS of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the TRUE good things. What things then, come from the wicked? If the good things are the holy spirit, the spirit of truth, what then are evil things?

1 John 4:6  We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

When you speak, one of two sorts of spirit is coming out of your mouth.

The words (the fruit, the things) that come out of your mouth are a spirit. A SORT of spirit.

Isaiah 59:13  In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

You either speak the words of everlasting life, or you speak the words of falsehood.

This is the fruit that comes out of your heart. The Holy Spirit is good fruit, and the words of falsehood (false doctrine) is evil fruit.

When you speak the gospel (pure and undefiled, unleavened), you bring forth good fruit. You shew forth that you are a good tree. Not by your works, but by your words, your fruit.

But as we are carnal men, the power to do those things, to speak those words of life, is not in ourselves.

Romans 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

It is in the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Ghost speaks those things in us.

Acts 1:16  Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Mark 13:11  But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Its nothing good in us (in my flesh dwelleth no good thing). Its not our power or our words. Its His Spirit and His words. And you either have those good things in you, or you don’t. This is what we are looking for. This is how we try a man. This is how we prove ourselves.

What comes out of the (heart’s) mouth, the Holy Spirit (words of life), or another spirit (words of falsehood)?

Words. This is a man’s fruit. This defines a man as good or evil. Not his works, but his fruits: his words.

It matters not what a man does, it only matters what a man speaks.

Because it is by his WORDS (his fruit) that a man will be judged.

Matthew 12:35-37  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. [what are these THINGS? Aren’t they works? NO!] 36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  37  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

A good man speaks good things, and an evil man speaks evil things.

A good man cannot speak evil things, and an evil man cannot speak good things.

These things… are not carnal works. They are spiritual WORDS.

And how can you know them, the one from the other? How can you differentiate good things in a good tree from evil things in an evil tree? The same way that the Lord will judge them: by their words.

“Let me strengthen you today my friends. Let me preach to you today my brethren…”

Matthew 12:37 [NotKJV]  For by thy works thou shalt be justified, and by thy works thou shalt be condemned.

“My brethren, we must continue to follow Christ, we must walk as he walked, we must serve in righteousness and in truth, we must prove our selves with true good deeds, we must serve the Father as the Son served the Father, in sincerity and not in pretense, in truth and not only in word, we must flee from evil things and seek to do good things, for if we bring forth good things, good works, we are a good tree, and so we must love our brethren, not with mere words, but with ACTIONS, because we will be judged by our ACTIONS, because, saith he, by thy WORKS thou shalt be justified, and by thy WORKS thou shalt be condemned …” … Oops! Oh No. Ohhh boy. That was a whoopsy! I apologize. I just transformed myself into a false prophet. I think I got the wrong bible here. I must have one of those Satanic bibles.

Ole’ Satan, he deceiveth the whole world, he deceived me! It wasn’t hard. He just slipped in a little leaven. It was simple and subtle. Did you see it? Did you see how he did it?

.

.

.

He just changed one litter letter. ONE. LITTLE. LETTER.

Matthew 12:37 [KJV] For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

2 times, in one verse you are told that you will be judged “by thy words”.

“by thy works” does not appear in the Bible.

“by your works” does not appear in the Bible.

“by their works” does not appear in the Bible.

You know what does appear? “by THE works”. 6 times in 4 verses and they all teach the same thing.

Galatians 2:16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

There is NO justification by works. There is also no condemnation by works. Its not your works that will condemn you. It is your WORDS.

We are justified by faith, without any carnal works. The faith of Christ, WORDS coming out of your mouth, this justifies a man. But “by the works … shall no flesh be justified.”

That was 3 of the 6 right there!

Romans 9:32  Wherefore? Because they sought it [the righteousness of God, salvation] not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

A man is to be justified by WORDS. But one seeking to be justified by WORKS, will stumble and fall.. right into the pit, the Lake of Fire.

We are justified “not by the works”, for “by the works … shall no flesh be justified”.

The Bible NEVER says we will be judged by our works. It never says we will be justified or condemned by our works. But that’s the big lie: and its such a small one: one little change of a single letter.

Just a little added leaven makes a MASSIVE change of the lump.

Revelation 20:13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

The Bible says we are judged ACCORDING TO our works. True. And we have touched on this, and will explain this in more detail later. But while man is judged ACCORDING TO our works, we are not judged BY our works. There is a difference!

We are not judged as innocent or guilty, by our works. Rather, we are judged, either justified or condemned, found guilty or found innocent, by our words.

“YE shall know them by their fruits (words)”. That is how we can know them, and that is how The Lord knows them too.

It’s the only way to know a true man from a reprobate – a spy – a false brother.

By their fruits you will know them. You have to check the fruit. The words!

John 6:67-68  Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?  68  Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

A true man has the words (fruits) of eternal life.

Taste the fruit!

If it’s eternal life in the Spirit, it’s good fruit.

If it’s eternal death, or doubt and confusion in the flesh (if it be of carnal, fleshly works) it is evil fruit. It will result in corruption. All fleshly works result in that same fruit: death. All carnal fruit goes to the same place: death.

If there is grace through faith alone, without works, it is good fruit.

If there is carnal works involved, at all, even a little bit, it is evil fruit.

That is why we ask the questions that we do.

  • Can you tell me about your need for righteousness?
  • If you were to live the rest of your life as a serial killer, could that possibly hurt your chances of going to heaven?

Real Christians have the words of eternal life. And if a man speaks the words of eternal life, we know that that man is a good tree.
