“ERRORS IN THE KING JAMES BIBLE”

Well, if something is perfect it can’t have errors, now can it?

Dr. Peter S. Ruckman. Ruckmanites. I am not a Ruckmanite.

However, despite his faults (we all have them), and his divorces (3 I think) he was (he’s with The Lord now) the staunchest, loudest, most brilliant defender of the King James Bible in modern history.

Most of the information in this small section about “errors” comes from his book entitled “Errors in the KJB”. The title is in quotes on the front of the book itself, signifying that it is not his belief but a quote of others.

He calls them “problem texts”, not errors.

There are three (3) kinds of problem texts, according to Dr. Ruckman.

1 – A text which seems to contradict another text elsewhere in the Bible.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Vs.

James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

2 – A text which seems to teach something known to be false.

Matthew 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds:

Some modern scientist finds that some other seed is smaller, so this must be wrong. So it must be an error.

3 – A text which seems to defy explanation.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

They can’t separate flesh from spirit so this can’t possibly be true.

It is claimed that “scholars” can find 31,000 things wrong in the KJB.

29,000 are deliberate creations invented by imaginative scholars.

Of the 2000 remaining, 1600 can be explained by common sense.

About 400 remain that could really be called “problem texts”.

Only 20 or so can be classified as “difficult”.

Only 5 as “extremely difficult”.

It is not the subject of this to go through all 400.

However, I will touch on one as an example for you. This is the classic boo-boo of the KJV.

Bible college guest speaker.

2Kings 8:26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

2Chronicles 22:2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

First, This is EXACTLY how they read in all available HEBREW OT Manuscripts. ALLLL of them. Not one flyer. None. So, they’re all wrong too.

OT – Hebrew … NT – Greek

There is something the scholars call “The Septuagint” Sept=70

A non-existent, never found group of 72 scholars that made a Greek OT.

I copied this verbatim from the web, I think it says it best from a PRO-Septuagint website, by the way…

The term Septuagint is often thought of as the Greek version (or translation) of the Hebrew Bible, much like the Vulgate is the Latin version or the Peshitta is the Syriac version. But, technically speaking, there is no such thing as “the Septuagint.” If you own a modern copy of the Septuagint (e.g., Rahlfs or Brenton editions), it is an “eclectic” (“from a lot of different sources”) edition, that is, a collection of the best and most reliable Greek manuscripts reconstructed to approximate the original translation of the Old Testament from Hebrew to Greek.

So, when scholars use this term, it does not refer to a single text. Rather, it refers to a collection of Greek translations produced by numerous scribes over the course of a few hundred years and, in all likelihood, composed in different locations. Today, the term is usually used to refer generally to the various Greek translations of the Hebrew Bible, as well as some additional books, such as Tobit, Maccabees, and Sirach, to name a few.

Umm, imho, “The Septuagint” is a non-existent, fabricated lie, comprised by men that are haters of our Lord and our beliefs.

The HEBREW OT that we use for the KJV is called the Masoretic Text.

The Jewish people were incredibly particular about their copying.

They counted letters, words, lines, pages … everything.

If there was even one flaw, one, the whole manuscript was burned.

As a manuscript aged and became tattered (they USED them, they didn’t keep them locked in a temperature-controlled museum case) it was meticulously copied; then it was DESTROYED.

This is why there are no “originals” in the Hebrew. There are NEWER, PERFECT copies of the Hebrew.

AND THEY ALL HAVE THESE “ERRORS”.

The older ones were then destroyed. Again…

Let’s also note this “error”…

2Kings 24:8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother’s name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

2Chronicles 36:9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

This “error” is very similar, right? How careless were those Jewish Scribes!

1Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

1Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

1Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Study – or be ashamed.

The STUDY of the answer is a little complicated. Read all about it in “Errors in the KJB”.

The ANSWER to both of the “errors” is actually quite simple.

Jehoiachin was 8 when he was first anointed.

Jehoiachin was 18 when he was first sat on the actual throne.

Ahaziah was 22 when he was first anointed.

Ahaziah was 42 when he was first sat on the actual throne.

Remember, David was anointed by Samuel and Samuel fled.

It was 10 or 15 years before David sat on the throne – but he was prepped.

Jesus was anointed when He walked on this planet.

It will be about 2000 years (so far) before He sits on that throne.

After answering this one, well, the rest, while all a little different, and many being much easier, kinda go down the same way.

STUDY is the key.

STUDY to show yourself approved and God will GIVE YOU the answer.

Many don’t study it – because they believe it IS an error! Their loss.

Here is another key…

1Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Listen closely: If you don’t believe – then it don’t work.

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

1 guy does 1 thing, the other the opposite.

In the NT, it’s ALL GOOD; if you believe. It’s ALL BAD; if you don’t.

It’s ALL about believing. That’s what the NT is about.

You BELIEVE God, He takes care of you. You DON’T, He doesn’t.

2Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

A mind unwilling to believe is not accepted.

This is truth that David, of whom God said he was, “a man after mine own heart”
