The Keepers of the Law – Part 32

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:…

What does it mean to “lust”?

Exodus 15:9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

Numbers 11:4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Your FLESH lusts for the things of the flesh – AGAINST the things of the spirit.

You SPIRIT lusts for the things of the spirit – AGAINST the things of the flesh.

The spirit and the flesh are CONTRARY to one another.

Leviticus 26:27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; 28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

To be contrary is to be moving against or in an opposite direction.

Why does it say “so that ye CANNOT do the things that ye would”?

Wouldn’t it work both ways??? Why not, “so that ye CAN do the things that ye would”?

The problem is – we really only know the FLESH.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The flesh is always WEAK when it comes to doing spiritual things. ALWAYS. It is CONTRARY to spiritual things.

Think about it this way – if the FLESH enjoys it – then you aren’t doing a spriritual thing. Sounds crazy, right????

They are CONTRARY to one another. So that you CANNOT do the [spiritual] things that you WOULD DO – if it wasn’t for your flesh constantly LUSTING for fleshly things and against the spiritual things.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing

Col_2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:…13 And you, being dead (past and current tense) in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, (past tense!!!!! But, not in THIS BODY!!) having forgiven you all trespasses;
