The Keepers of the Law – Part 12

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster

Galatians 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds [works] of the law.

How do I know deeds=works????

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works [deeds] of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Paul says the same thing to the Romans that he says to the Galatians.

One can RECEIVE THE WORD OF GRACE – and “for a while believe” but “HAVE NO ROOT”. Because of Works!

Here is the key – they RECEIVE but they don’t UNDERSTAND.

I am going to give you a very clear example in The Bibe, straight from the mouth of The Lord. In a very familiar story.

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.  9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Now, I want to draw your attention to EXACTLY what The Lord says next.

The Lord asks Adam two questions…

Genesis 3:11 And he said,

Question 1: Who told thee that thou wast naked?

THEN He asks…

Question 2: Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Why ask both questions? Why ask anything, right? God obviously KNEW.

But He asked anyway.

Why 2 questions?

Well, there were two (2) ways Adam could have found out he was naked.

  1. Somebody could have just told him. The Serpent could have. Right?

And he would have been told and THOUGHT HE KNEW.. But he would not have UNDERSTOOD.

This is knowledge WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING!  Anwers to an advanced math test.

  1. He could have eaten of the tree.

This gave him KNOWLEDGE WITH UNDERSTANDING.

Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing [you are naked] they might not understand. You’re naked. Go put some clothes on!

They can hear and receive. Even ACT ON WHAT THEY WERE TOLD! But they don’t understand. They ACT LIKE THEY DO, because somebody TOLD them some stuff.  But they do NOT UNDERSTAND.

This is why they are LOST. They have been TOLD. But they were never given understanding.

They won the football game. Yeah, sweet! Did you see that bubble? Yeah, wasn’t it huge?! Yes, it was a HUGE play.

One guy is thinking a big ball in the stands being pushed around in the air by the fans. Cooool! No idea what a “bubble” is!!

Mark 4:12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

No “understanding” and ALL of that goes away!!!!!!

Luke 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

What was the problem?? THEY WERE TOLD! But they did NOT UNDERSTAND!!

v45  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

YOU MIGHT BE TOLD. BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.

ONE MUST UNDERSTAND – OR ONE CANNOT BE CONVERTED.

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Ignorance doesn’t mean dymb or stupid by UNTAUGHT!!!!

This is how one can RECEIVE THE WORD OF GRACE – and “for a while believe” but “HAVE NO ROOT”. Because of they don’t understand repentance from dead WORKS!

It is ALL OVER THE BOOK!! “understanding” is the key to getting saved.

“understand” 91 times. Here are the 1st 2…

Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
