The Keepers of the Law – Part 17

A HYPOCRITE is someone LOST whose DOCTRINE leads others to Hell! But they LOOK good and TALK a great game

A HYPOCRITE JUDGES UNRIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT!!

I have been looking to nail down the exact definition of a HYPOCRITE for a few years. I went thru the references AGAIN.

Here (finally, after many years of looking) is the BIBLE definition of a HYPOCRITE

A HYPOCRITE BELIEVES & TEACHES JUDGMENT BY THE WORKS OF THE FLESH!!!

“Hypocrite” + “for” 9 times in the NT (we just saw a couple of them already)

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Matthew 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Luke 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

What is the BIBLE definition of a HYPOCRITE, again?…

A HYPOCRITE BELIEVES & TEACHES JUDGMENT BY THE WORKS OF THE FLESH!!!

This is UNRIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT!

What is unrighteous judgment?? Simple. Unrighteous judgment is judging according to what you SEE a man DO.

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

UNrighteous judgment is on what a human DOES – his WORKS!

Does he attend church? Does she commit fornication? Does he smoke? Is she sweet & nice to everyone? Does he cuss? Does she wear alluring clothes? Do they watch R-rated movies? Do they drink alcohol? Do they listen to the right music? Do they lie? Cheat? Steal? Are they greedy? Are they selfish? Do they support missions? What Bible do they have?

Do they keep the commandments? Do they keep the law? Do they at least try to keep the commandments?

Where does it end? Where is the line drawn?

A HYPOCRITE BELIEVES & TEACHES JUDGMENT BY THE WORKS OF THE FLESH!!!

A HYPOCRITE BELIEVES & TEACHES UNRIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT!!!

A HYPOCRITE PRODUCES EVIL FRUIT!!!

It seems HYPOCRITES believe 3 things.

1 – A Christian must have a sincere desire to stop sinning.  (ummm, which sins? ALL of them? Thoughts also?)

2 – You must at least be trying to stop sinning and trying to serve God.

3 – You must be careful to REPENT of each and every sin. Or you will be lost.

They watch carefully for these things. If a peron doesn’t LOOK like they have them, then they must be LOST.

Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

Galatians 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised (do 1 law), that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all

Where did this come from? How did the Apostles handle it?

Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. 6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. 22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

Act 15:23  And they wrote letters by them after this manner; …24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: …

Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.  (not ye will keep your salvation, but you will “do well”!)
