The Election Count – Part 18
The Fall of America
There very well may be a civil war in America. There very well may be a day when America’s enemies conquer her, and America falls. We may live through that event. We may lose our earthly country.
And what should we do when and if that day comes (and if that day is soon)? Fight to save her? Fight to create a new and better nation out of her? Will we fight? Must we fight? Should we fight? Should we fight to preserve our earthly inheritance, promise, birthright? Did God give America a promise? Did he give us a promise of freedom and safety and success in America? Absolutely not. If He did, we wouldn’t have to fight to preserve it. A promise of God cannot be broken or stolen.
If evil comes on America, should we fight to preserve “God’s will for her”?
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
If there is evil done in your nation, your city, your home… God did it. He arranged it, allowed it and effectively DID it. He caused it! It wasn’t just bad luck. It wasn’t that the defences of the city weren’t strong enough, or that the armies weren’t well enough trained, the militia wasn’t well enough armed. It wasn’t Satan winning one over mankind. It wasn’t “the devil of communism” spreading while no true patriot was bold enough to stand up and fight against it.
No, it was the Lord. The Lord did it. With the hand of men, The Lord hath done it. Why? Most likely, for wrath’s sake. Because the city was evil and so it was rewarded according to its works. What city ever suffered, being righteous?
If Israel was righteous, it would never have been given to its enemies to burn it with fire and to take captive its people.
If there were a mere 10 righteous men in them, Sodom and Gomorrah would not have been destroyed. Just 10 righteous men!
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Sounds like America to me. Pride, fulness of bread, idleness, oppression of the poor (both sides!). Not to mention the rampant homosexuality.
Pride and abundance of idleness – America has had pride in its excellency. And the church in America has been complacent in the gospel. The Lord hated the excellency of Jacob. The Lord hated those that were at ease in Zion. How much more a Gentile nation like America? The churches have been drunken and sleeping with the lost. They’ve not been laboring in the gospel. Christians have been at ease, getting themselves fat and rich with the substance of America, and being at ease.
Luke 12:19-20 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
If any city that ever was destroyed was righteous, it would not have had evil done to it. If evil comes on America, America is worthy of it.
And who is to blame? The wicked? The abundance of the heathen? Partially, but not entirely. In fact, not mostly! Rather it’s the righteous that are to blame. Or rather, the lack thereof. Eventually, an evil city will be destroyed for its wickedness. But the lack of righteousness in it, is why a city is destroyed now, as opposed to spared for longer time. Consider the example of Sodom and Gomorrah which was destroyed that same night, and contrast with the example of Nineveh which was spared for a time.
IF God gives America up to be destroyed, its because she is defiled. Its because she was given space to repent, and she repented not. And indeed our land has been defiled; by blood, by idols, by fornications, and adulteries. By oppression of the poor and abundance of idleness. And by pride in her abominations.
Ezekiel 36:17-18 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. 18 Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:
This land has been defiled. We have polluted it. So its pretty clear to me that America will be destroyed. There will be evil done to America. And it will be the Lord who does it.
America will fall. And the Lord will be the one to bring her down. Let us not fight against the Lord.
So when the destruction comes…
Fear not
There very well may be a civil war in America. Or a day when America’s enemies invade and destroy her. If that day is soon, what should we do? Fight to save her? Fight to create a new and better nation out of her? I believe no. But if not.. then what? Should we run? Should we hide?
Should we be afraid? No! Naturally, we will be, but Scripturally, no, we should not be afraid of wars in an earthly nation that we call home.
Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
There have been lots of wars since Jesus was on Earth. We’ve had a civil war in America before. We’ve had two “world wars”, and the end has not come yet. These things must come to pass.
They don’t indicate the end, and they should not trouble Christians. As Christians living through wars, He says, “see that ye be not troubled”.
That should take a load off, should it not? Seems like such a scary thing when we hear of wars, rumours of wars and threats of wars. But our Lord says “be not troubled.”
Proverbs 3:21-26 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. [If you’ve kept wisdom, THEN:] 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
The desolation of America is coming. But we ought not be afraid of it when it comes.
Although, if you don’t seek wisdom and godliness, but rather put on the old man, and walk with the wicked, then you don’t have that promise of life and maybe you should be afraid and because you may be cut off with them.
But if you seek wisdom, if you get it, if you give it, if you seek the Lord and trust the Lord and serve the Lord… then you don’t have any reason to be afraid of man’s fear.
Psalms 27:1-3 … The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
A godly man, a wise man has no reason to be afraid, even in the midst of a war zone.
Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Where is the valley of the shadow of death? Is it a warzone? Is it the whole present evil world? Worse!
Its not carnal, its spiritual. The “shadow of death” is the darkness of the spiritual prison that mankind is in.
Job 10:21-22 Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death; 22 A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
Job is talking about going to a place; a land filled with darkness, a place called death.
Job 38:17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
This is a place that all lost souls are already in. But the saved have been plucked out. (Psalms 107:14, Isaiah 9:2, Matt 4:16)
Though you walk through death and hell itself, through the land of the power of Satan, you should fear no evil. How much less the power of man, a warzone of man’s making?
Psalms 3:6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I mean, but this is David talking though. What expectation do WE have of that protection? Right? Should we also not be afraid?
Luke 12:4-5 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
I think we do have reason to not be afraid. Are we not His friends? Are we not His family? Who are His brother and sister and mother? Them that hear the word of God and keep it!
Hear the word of God, and hide it in your heart! Hear it, Fear it, Obey it, Guard it, Teach it!
Who are His friends?
John 15:12-17 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
So who are His Friends? According to this passage, you are His friend if you… love one another : lay down your life for Christians : hear and know “all things” : go and bring forth fruit.
These are all the same things. They all boil down to: hear the word of God, keep it, and speak it / preach it.
You are His friend if you believe Him and receive His righteousness.
James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
These are the Lord’s friends. And His friends need not fear them that kill the body.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
If you let Him be your confidence… if you don’t strive to protect yourself and satisfy yourself and feed yourself, like Jesus didn’t, then YOU may boldly say, “the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
Man may do something, or God may not allow him to, but either way, you’ll have no need to fear man.
Isaiah 2:22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?
Isaiah 51:12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;
Man is not to be feared by God’s people.
Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
When Joe Biden was declared the winner of the presidential race by the AP, I saw a news commentator in his elation say, “Today is a good day. Its easier to be a parent today.”
Look, this is how the world thinks. Their contentment and their safety is tied to this world.
They really think that if they can just fight and strive and win, they will be safe.
Our safety is not tied to anything in this world… other than the Book from which we preach.
We are no MORE safe, neither are we any LESS safe now, than we were under a previous administration.
Our future is no MORE secure, neither is it any LESS secure now, than 1 year ago.
Our security is not tied to the state of America!
You may think, “Maybe a civil war would be a good thing. We are such a divided country, why don’t we just split ways?” What would that accomplish? I don’t think that would make us safer, nor would we be better off. It might feel that way.. But if we as Christians felt safer and less worried, we’d dive further into our “ease” and complacency. We’d trust our new nation and its rulers for our safety and our sustenance. We’d trust our wealth, our safe communities, our rights, our laws, our guns, our nation’s military strength. And THAT would make us unsafe. We are ONLY safe when we submit ourselves completely to His care, commit ourselves completely into His hand, and trust solely in His shadow.
And spiritually, we’d be worse off too. We’d have our access to roughly 50% of the souls in America cut off. Many of the poor and needy, the rich in faith, would be inaccessible to us.
So don’t wish for a civil war, but also, don’t be afraid of one.
But what a scary thing to live through, especially with a family.
And what, we are supposed to just be pacifists? Just wandering around staying away from conflict? Just sojourning like strangers and foreigners, like we don’t have a home in this world? Avoiding violence and conflict and just preaching the gospel? Yeah. I believe so… That is when the Lord is your defence.
How can we have faith through that? How can we stand by and not fight? If not fight to win a war, we should at least fight for peace on the earth, right? No. We should fight to make peace, but only to make true peace. Spiritual peace. To make peace with God. We are “the peacemakers”.
You think, “We’d be so unhappy. You think, “We’d be so unsafe!”
Au Contraire! We’d be the ONLY safe people in the whole entire country.
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
